How to read NASCAR Cup Series results
The winner is the headline, but the full Cup result explains much more: where every driver finished, how far each moved from the starting spot, laps completed and led, race status and points when supplied.
Finish versus start
A positive +/− means the driver finished ahead of the starting position; a negative number means positions were lost. It is the quickest way to spot a charge through the field.
Official after post-race inspection
NASCAR or ARCA can revise the apparent finishing order after technical inspection or a penalty. This page follows the latest supplied official result rather than the first car seen crossing the line.
Race result versus championship standings
A race result covers one event. Standings combine points across the season, so the race winner does not automatically become the championship leader.
